Upgrade from 22.04 to 24.04

Hello all,

I saw recently that Indico is now compatible with Ubuntu 24.04 (maybe that happened a while ago?). Are there any precautions or tricky Indico issues to keep in mind while upgrading a live system, beyond the mandatory snapshot and database backup? Any legacy problems? How smooth has it been in your experience?

DB backup + /opt/indico/archive backup + (maybe) indico.conf backup is usually enough. Updating in place probably works, if you can just use a new VM that’s likely easier.

Thank you Adrian. Do you know if compatibility with 26.04 is planned at some point in the coming year? Because I might as well wait for that and skip 24.04 altogether.
