Unique Event and user IDs

Hello everyone,

I have a concern about the privacy and security of Indico event and user IDs. As you may know, the default IDs are simply counting numbers, which can be easily identified by anyone who knows how to navigate to the relevant pages. This could potentially be a problem for sensitive or confidential events.

I would like to know if there are any ways to make the IDs more unique and less easily identifiable. I couldn’t find anything so far regarding this topic.

Can anyone provide some guidance on how to create more unique event IDs or hide user IDs within Indico? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sensitive indico events must be protected by restricting their access (either using the ACL or by using a secret access key).

It’s not easily possible (nor planned) to add “secret URL” style privacy for events.
