There is a Map URL option in the location settings for an event, along with Room , Venue, and Address. When I specify a URL in this field, however, I cannot find this link anywhere on the event display page. Am I not looking in the correct place? Or is this a bug?

Probably too late to be useful for Tim but it seems the map URL is only shown for events of type “conference” in the default templates, not for “meetings”.
(Along those same lines, I also find it needlessly opaque that for “meeting”-type events the physical address/location of the meeting is not shown in the event view but only displayed momentarily while you “mouse-over” the location’s name (which is shown). That’s not really intuitive and also makes it hard/impossible to copy the location address e.g. to search for it in an interactive map application.)
